Local Community

The focus of our Community Care Ministries is to help build the church and a better community through the expression of the love of Christ in practical ways by reaching out to the lonely, the needy, the hurting and the marginalized. Our Community Care Ministries include:

Food Bank Ministry
The primary object of the Fundy Interchurch Food Bank is to relieve poverty by providing food to needy individuals and families in the town of Kentville and the village of New Minas, and surrounding district. Kingsway Assembly supports the Fundy Interchurch Food Bank with donations of food, cash and volunteer services.

Benevolence Ministry
Complimentary with our Food Bank Ministry, we also operate a Benevolence Program because we recognizing that there are people in our community with unmet practical needs for food for which the safety nets of governments and community organizations do not supply.

Christmas Kettle Program
The Salvation Army operates their Christmas Kettle Program for approximately six weeks prior to Christmas providing opportunities for people to give to the less fortunate. We encourage our people to support this program by volunteering to attend kettles for blocks of time as schedules permit.

Christmas Hamper Program
The Salvation Army coordinates a Christmas Hamper Program with area Churches to provide hampers with turkey, food and toys to ensure families in need will have a good Christmas dinner. Each year we support this program by committing to provide a certain number of hampers to families as assigned by the Salvation Army.
